6-storey building collapsed in India, many casualties feared

A six-storey building collapsed in India due to heavy rains. It is feared that many people have been injured. The incident took place in Sachin Pali village in Gujarat’s Surat on Saturday (July 6).

Officials said at least 15 people were injured in the building collapse. A woman was rescued alive from the rubble. Many more are feared trapped under the rubble.

According to Indian media NDTV, the multi-storey building was built only eight years ago.

Pictures and videos circulating on social media show that a mountain of rubble has been created at the site of the building collapse. Volunteers are conducting rescue operations there.

It is learned that at least five families were inside the building when it collapsed in the afternoon.
