8 killed in road accident in Dinajpur in one day


A bus named Nabil Paribahan was going to Ranishankoil in Thakurgaon with 42 passengers from Dhaka. On the way, six people, including children, were killed in a head-on collision with a truck on the Dinajpur-Gobindganj highway. 28 people were injured. Eight people were killed in a single day in the district, including a van driver and two others in Phulbari in the vicinity of this incident.

On Friday (July 5) at 6 a.m. in the morning on the Dinajpur-Gobindganj highway road, three separate accidents took place in Chakrampur and Jaliapara of Shashra Union of Sadar Upazila and in the afternoon at Phulbari.

The deceased are the driver of the truck Hasu Mia (28) son of deceased Sura Mia of Mitrapatti village of Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon, Rajesh Bahadur (30) son of deceased Lon Bahadur of Setabganj Millroad area of ​​Bochaganj upazila of Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur, supervisor of Nabil Paribahan, Mohammad Ali (52) son of Danesh Ali of Pirganj upazila, passenger of the bus. , Zahid’s daughter Bibha (10) of Bochaganj upazila, five-month-old baby Saima Mehnaz of Mominul of Khochna village of Chirirbandar upazila and Swadesh Roy (23) of Bishnupur village of Vanchalak Sadar upazila.

The deceased in the Phulbari incident are Menhajul Islam (40), a cattle driver, son of Abdur Razzak of Paruil village, Dharanji Union, Panchbibi Upazila of Joypurhat, and Aman Hossain (30), a cow trader of Naona village, Balighata Union of the same police station.

It was found that a Nabil Paribahan bus with passengers from Dhaka was going to Ranishankoil in Thakurgaon in the early morning. At the same time, a truck from Sadar Upazila to Ambojhai was going towards Gobindganj. When the two cars reached Shashra area of ​​Panch Bari Bazar, there was a head-on collision. Two died on the spot and two others died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. At least 28 passengers were injured in this incident. They are under treatment at Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.

Earlier, a truck rammed a paddy-laden van at Jaliapara, one kilometer away from Chakrampur in the same area. The van driver Swadesh Roy was seriously injured. Later the locals rescued him and admitted him to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. He died at 11 pm while undergoing treatment there.

Meanwhile, an empty truck was going to Dinajpur from Phulbari around 2.30 pm. At the same time a Bhatva (motor driven) with 9 cows was going to Panchbibi via Phulbari from Ambari haat. On the way, two vehicles collided head-on while turning a bend on the Dinajpur-Gobindganj regional highway at North Sujapur area adjacent to the Upazila Health Complex of Phulbari town. The front end of both the cars were twisted. In this incident, two died on the spot.

Jannatun Ara of Khansama Upazila, a passenger of Nabil bus who was injured in the accident, said, ‘I left Dhaka for home in Nabil Paribahan at night to attend my younger brother’s wedding invitation. We were supposed to land at Dinajpur. But before reaching there was a sudden collision with a truck. In a few seconds everything goes haywire before the eyes. I am now receiving treatment at the hospital after getting head and chest injuries.’

In this regard, District Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed said that we have come to know several reasons behind the bus accident. Helper was placed in one of the driver’s seats. The driver sat in the helper’s seat. I came to know that the car was running at reckless speed. Helper Kausar has been referred to Rangpur.’

Meanwhile, the district administration has formed a committee headed by Additional District Magistrate Jane Alam to investigate the accident.

Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed said that the investigation committee will give a report within the next seven days. Besides, financial support has been provided from the district administration for the burial of the dead and the treatment of the injured.
