ACC chairman avoided questions about Benazir’s passport


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has interrogated eight officials of the Passport Directorate to investigate allegations of passport forgery against former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed. The interrogation started at 11:30 am and ended at 4:00 pm at the head office of the organization. ACC Deputy Director Hafizul Islam and his team interrogated them.

Journalists wanted to know about this in the afternoon from ACC Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah and Secretary Khorseda Yasmin. But they both avoided the issue.

Those who have been interrogated are Md. Mohsin Islam, Abu Md. Motaleb Hossain, Abdul Jalil Mandal, Munsi Mueed Ikram, Abdullah Al Mamun, Abu Naeem Masum, Saidur Rahman and Subhas Chandra Roy.

Complaint against Benazir Ahmed, he has created a normal passport in the identity of a private employee. Unprecedented fraud has also been resorted to in making passports. But if caught during the renewal, the passport department blocked it. The letter was given to the RAB headquarters. But he manages everything with influence. Take special advantage without going to the passport office. The former IGP hid his police identity in his passport. Since the beginning, he has not taken a special passport as a government employee.

Benazir Ahmed was summoned to the ACC for questioning in these matters, but he did not come. Even when his wife Zeeshan Mirza and two daughters were summoned for questioning on allegations of illegitimate acquisition and corruption, they did not respond to the ACC’s summons. However, they sent a written statement through a lawyer without appearing.

According to the sources of the investigation officer, the passport officers claimed their innocence during the interrogation. However, another source in the ACC said that Benazir Ahmed may have several more passports.

In this regard, ACC Deputy Director Aktarul Islam said that a team of ACC has questioned the passport officers and employees.
