After seeing the theft, he was tied to a tree and tortured all night


A farmer named Nurul Amin Shikder was tied to a tree and tortured overnight after witnessing the theft of betel nuts in Barisal’s Ujirpur. The incident took place in Hastishund village of Bamrail Union of the upazila on Saturday (July 6) night.

According to the victim’s family sources, Nurul recently saw Sujan Sardar’s son of Babul Sardar of Hastishund village stealing betel nuts. At that time, Sujan threatened Nurul not to tell anyone about the matter. Fearing for her life, Nurul filed a general diary at the Uzirpur police station.

After the incident, when the matter was known in the village, Sujan was furious. As a result of this, on the way to the local market on Saturday evening, Sujan captured Nurul, tied her to a tree and tortured her throughout the night with the help of her associates. At one point, when he fell unconscious, they thought him dead and left him on the bank of an abandoned pond.

Nurul Amin complained that Sujan, Arif and Mizan came to Faqi’s house to cover up the theft after they saw it and threatened him with death. Later he lodged a complaint with the police station. When this incident became known, he was stopped on his way to the market on Saturday evening by some miscreants riding camels. At one point they tied her hands and face to a tree and tortured her.

In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Uzirpur police station. Zafar Ahmed told Jago News that the police was sent to the spot as soon as the complaint was received. The matter is being investigated, if the allegations are proved, legal action will be taken.
