An artist’s voice is stronger than a weapon: Food minister


Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar said that the voice of the artist is stronger than the weapon. Artists took part in the Great Liberation War. They inspired the brave freedom fighters through songs. Poets also played a role in enlivening through poetry at that time.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the certificate and prize giving ceremony of District Art Academy Award 2023 and Art Competition 2024 at Naogaon Sadar Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Friday (July 5) evening.

The food minister said that Bengali culture should be promoted and kept alive for future generations. Celebrating just one day is not enough. Its practice should be increased. At the same time it should be kept in mind.

He said, if we do not show native culture to our children, they will be attracted to other cultures. Therefore, more programs should be taken to increase the practice of native culture.

The Food Minister also mentioned that the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already taken various initiatives to develop and support the country’s traditional culture.

Additional Superintendent of Police Gaziur Rahman, former Principal Shariful Islam Khan, President of Naogaon District Press Club Abubakar Siddique and District Cultural Officer Taifur Rahman spoke as special guests at the event presided over by Naogaon Deputy Commissioner and District Arts Academy President Golam Mawla.

The recipients of the District Arts Academy Award-2023 are Engineer Trina Mazumder, founder president of creative cultural organization ‘Trishul’, Sampa Das in vocal music, creative cultural researcher Mustafa Al Mehmood Russell, instrumentalist Paresh Kumar Mandal and Tahmidur Rahman Manon in fine arts. Later, the Food Minister handed over mementos and certificates to the awardees.
