Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, BIWTA conducts dredging activities to restore the dying rivers. Before dredging, hydrographic survey is done to know the condition of the river bed. Later, taking into account the survey and the structure of the river, capital dredging is done to restore the navigability of the river and conservation dredging is done to maintain the navigability of the navigable waterway.

He said that BIWTA before dredging in any area carries out planned dredging after hydrographic survey and analysis of hydro and morphological data of the river subject to the opinion of the consulting firm. As a result, there is no river erosion anywhere.
