BNP does not understand the meaning of connectivity: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League. Hasan Mahmud said, “The BNP leader who said that if the submarine cable is connected, the sovereignty of the country will be lost, that BNP is not supposed to understand the meaning of connectivity.”

He said this while addressing the chief guest at the Rangpur divisional extended meeting of Bangladesh Awami League at Sayadpur in Nilphamari on Friday (July 5) afternoon.

Dr. BNP’s criticism of connectivity with India and the signing of the memorandum of understanding. Hasan Mahmud said, ‘There is no border post in Europe. Is there a loss of sovereignty of countries? We are importing hydropower from Nepal over India, has India lost its sovereignty? We have entered into various agreements with India to enhance connectivity. There will be connectivity with Nepal too.’

He said, ‘We are also working with other countries of South Asia, that is, we are working on economic development plans for the people of this region by increasing regional connectivity. BNP does not understand the meaning of this connectivity, nor is it supposed to understand.’

Addressing the party’s leaders and workers, the joint general secretary of Awami League said, ‘Bangladesh’s daughter Sheikh Hasina’s leadership has established Bangladesh as a prestigious state in the world today. Our main strength is the grassroots leaders and activists of the party and Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina’s foresight, courage, prudence in decision-making, steadfastness in dealing with all crises, leadership ability to move the party forward by uprooting all obstacles, party unity and the immense trust, faith, support of the Trinamool leaders and workers towards Bangabandhukanya Sheikh Hasina and their talent-work- Because of sweat, Bangladesh Awami League came to power four times in a row and five times after Bangabandhu’s murder.

Pointing out that the laziness that has come among some leaders and activists due to being in power four times in a row, he said, ‘Left Front was in power in West Bengal for 34 years. The biggest reason for this, the organization was strong.’

The foreign minister said, ‘After the elections, the BNP-Jamaat evil forces and the international circles associated with them were waiting to see how much the government was accepted internationally. So far, heads of state, heads of government, presidents and prime ministers of 81 countries and 32 international organizations including the United Nations, Commonwealth, OIC, European Union and Commission have congratulated Sheikh Hasina for being elected prime minister for the fourth time in a row. The President of the United States has written a letter expressing his intention to work with the government of Sheikh Hasina, elected for the fourth time in a row.

Awami League presidium member Shajahan Khan presided over the extended meeting. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Member of Parliament Asaduzzaman Noor, Organizing Secretary of Awami League Sujit Roy Nandi, Central Member Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia, Advocate Safura Begum Rumi and others spoke.
