Businessman jailed for illegally cutting soil in Bogra


A mobile court has sentenced a businessman named Yunus Ali (40) to three months imprisonment on the charge of illegally cutting and selling soil from agricultural land with excavators in Dhunat Upazila of Bogra.

On Tuesday (June 25) after noon, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ashiq Khan conducted a raid and gave this sentence. Later sent to prison.

Convicted accused Yunus Ali is son of Sohrab Pramanik of Jorshimul village of Chikashi Union of Bogra Yunus Ali Upazila from Dhunat Thana.

According to police sources, Yunus Ali has been illegally cutting soil from agricultural land with excavators and extracting sand from underground and selling it for a long time. In continuation of this, around Monday evening, soil was being illegally cut from three crop fields with excavators in Barachpara village of the upazila. On receiving the news, the mobile court raided there.

Dhunat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saikat Hasan told Jago News that accused Yunus Ali was sent to jail for violating the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act.
