Case against former additional engineer of LGED along with his wife


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Kazi Mizanur Rahman, former Additional Engineer of LGED and his wife Kazi Banani Rahman, of the Khulna Division, alleging illegal acquisition and possession of 17 crore 33 lakh 66 thousand 618 rupees.

ACC Assistant Director Aliaz Hossain filed the case on Tuesday (June 4) at the agency’s integrated district office in Jessore.

On Wednesday (June 5), the matter was reported by ACC sources.

In the statement of the case, it is said that immovable assets worth Tk 10 crore 44 lakh have been found in 59 documents in the name of accused Banani Rahman.

In the asset declaration, accused Banani declared assets of Tk 19 crore 81 lakh five thousand 182. Out of which he could not show any legitimate source of wealth of 17 crore 33 lakh 66 thousand 618 rupees.

It is also stated in the statement that the accused Kazi Banani Rahman is a housewife and dependent on her husband. Her husband Kazi Mizanur Rahman joined the service as an upazila engineer on November 4, 1989. After being promoted gradually, he served as the Supervising Engineer and Project Director of the ‘Important Urban Infrastructure Development Project (2nd Phase)’ of the Directorate of Local Government Engineering of Dhaka.

Kazi Mizanu was last Additional Chief Engineer, Local Government Engineering Directorate (LGED), Khulna Division, PRL from Khulna. It appears that he has acquired non-income assets known as Kazi Banani Rahman through illegal and ill-gotten gains while holding various government posts.
