Clash over dominance in Narayanganj, 1 shot dead


In Rupganj of Narayanganj, the conflict between the two sides over the spread of dominance, Md. A young man named Deen Islam (23) was killed. About 20 others were injured.

The clash took place in the Naora area of ​​Kayetpara Union of the upazila on Thursday (June 6) night. The deceased Md. Deen Islam is the son of Millat Hossain of Naora area.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station Deepak Chandra Saha confirmed the matter.

Locals said that Mosharraf Hossain, a top terrorist listed by the police, had a dispute for a long time with Rupganj Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Mizanur Rahman over land business in Rupganj and expansion of influence in the area. Due to this, supporters of both sides often clash. During the 12th National Assembly elections, Mosharraf Hossain left the area due to clashes between the two sides. Last Tuesday (June 4), Musharraf came to the area to attend the funeral of one of his relatives. At that time, when the opponents attacked him, he ran away. Due to this, there was tension between the two sides in Naora area for the last three days. That tension on Thursday afternoon first erupted into scuffles between supporters of both sides and clashes later in the afternoon. Meanwhile, people from both sides clashed with helmets and firearms. Clashes continued between both sides till 7:30 pm. Meanwhile, several people were shot and injured. Deen Islam was shot and killed among them.

Nazmul Pradhan, uncle of the deceased Deen Islam, said that there was tension in the area after Tuesday’s clash. Police were also deployed in the area. Meanwhile, on Thursday afternoon, three to four hundred people led by Mizanur Rahman suddenly attacked the houses of Mosharraf Hossain and Nazmul Pradhan with weapons. Clashes broke out when Musharraf’s men blocked the attack. Meanwhile, Mizanur Rahman and his supporters fired short guns and pistols. Deen Islam was injured in Mizanur’s firing. He later died on the way to the hospital.

However, Mizanur Rahman said in this regard, I heard that Musharraf’s people clashed with the villagers. One of Musharraf’s men was killed. He does not know the details of the incident as he is not in the village.

Members of the Naora police outpost were there at the time of the incident. Later I went to the spot with more force from Rupganj police station. At least 12 rounds of blank bullets had to be fired to control the situation. The situation is calm now. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
