Colombia in the Copa Semi with 5 goals against Panama

Colombia’s unbeaten run of 27 matches continued. After a 1-1 draw with Brazil in the last match of the group stage, they blew away Panama in the quarter finals.

Hamis Rodríguez has entered the semi-finals of the Copa America after defeating Panama 5-0 at the State Farm Stadium in the United States.

However, Panama (14) has taken twice as many shots as Colombia (7). Colombia scored on all 5 targets, while Panama managed just 3 of 14 shots on target and failed to concede a single goal.

Colombia’s star footballer James Rodriguez shines in this fight to get to the semis. He assisted two of the four goals, one himself.

Colombia went ahead at the beginning of the match. John Cordova scored a header from James Rodriguez’s corner in the eighth minute. In the 15th minute, Rodriguez doubled the lead with an own goal from the penalty spot.

John Arias was brought down in the box by Panama’s Orlando Mosquera. The referee blows the penalty whistle. Rodriguez hit the target with a left foot shot.

After falling behind by two goals, Panama attacked one after another. But there was no success. They wasted the opportunity with random shots.

In the meantime, Colombia scored another goal at the end of the first half. Rodriguez also contributed to this goal. He made the ball from the set piece to Luis Diaz. Diaz made it 3-0 with a powerful shot from outside the box.

In the second half too, Panama missed a lot of chances. Colombia once again created opportunities and capitalized brilliantly. In the 70th minute, Richard Reus made a great goal with a right foot shot from outside the box to make the gap 4-0.

Despite conceding four goals, Panama attacked Colombia’s box. But again and again they suffered from failure of finishing. They scored another goal in injury time.

Jose Cordoba was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Santiago Arias in the penalty area. Miguel Baria scored a right-footed shot to leave Panama with a big 5-0 loss.
