Dhaka-Chittagong highway blocked in Comilla for four hours, traffic stopped


Students of Comilla University have blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway demanding the reinstatement of the circular issued in 2018 by reforming the quota system in government jobs. This has caused severe traffic jams on both sides of the highway. Passengers and drivers of various transports are in trouble. The national highway has been closed for four hours.

This situation arose as a result of the blockade by students in Kotbari area of ​​Comilla Adarsh ​​Sadar Upazila on Sunday (July 7) around 4 pm. The road remains closed till this report is written at 8:30 pm.

Saidul Haque, a passenger of Star Line Paribahan, who expressed his anger while sitting in the car for a long time in the traffic jam, told Jago News that he got caught in the traffic jam at 4:30 in the afternoon. Been stuck for about 3 and a half hours. I left for Dhaka with my family. To say that I am in an indescribable suffering. There is no one to see the matter.

A passenger of CDM Paribahan named Abdur Rahman said, I reached Alekhchar area of ​​Comilla in three and a half hours from Dhaka. But I am standing in one place for four and a half hours.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mainamati Highway Police Station. Iqbal Bahar Majumdar told Jago News that due to the blockade of Kubi students in Kotbari area, traffic jam has been created on both sides of the highway for an area of ​​about 7-8 km. Police are trying to negotiate with them since afternoon. They are not giving up the blockade by any means.
