Kalidas Pahalia stream broke the bridge, people of 10 villages suffered

A temporary wooden bridge over the Kalidas Pahalia river in Lemua Union of Feni Sadar Upazila has collapsed. Due to this, the people of ten villages have suffered.

The wooden bridge was constructed for alternative traffic alongside the under-construction PSC Girder Bridge at a cost of Tk 12 crore financed by the World Bank.

On the surface, it can be seen that more than 10 thousand people of North Chandpur, Madhya Chandpur, Dakshin Chandpur, Neyamatpur, Tongir Par, Hafezia and Terbaria Pram of Lemua Union of the upazila have access to health services, legal services, land services, union parishad services, education services in the district towns and cities. Locals have requested to take necessary steps to reduce the suffering of traffic.

The only reliable wooden pool in that area is Lemua High School, South Lemua Government Primary School, Lemua Islamia Dakhil Madrasa, Union Parishad, office, market buyers and sellers for daily treatment and thousands of commuters going to market.

In this regard, Md. Abdul Jabbar, Rahim Miah, Abdul Haque, Nikhil Das and many others said that if the wooden pool is not rebuilt soon, they have to walk with difficulty and take risks on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway every day. Elderly, children, sick patients have to suffer endlessly at the crossing.

Mamun Chowdhury, the owner of the contracting company Chowdhury Enterprises, said that on Thursday night, I received information that a part of the temporary wooden bridge collapsed due to the current. It will be made passable within a short time.

Feni Sadar Upazila Executive Engineer Deepta Das Gupta said that during the rainy season, kachuripana accumulated under the wooden pool and the water flow broke quickly. Meanwhile, the contractor has been asked to take swift action to mitigate the public nuisance.
