Korea willing to work on railway development: Ambassador


South Korea is one of Bangladesh’s most important development partners. As a trusted development partner for a long time, the country is playing an important role by providing technical and financial support in various sectors, said the Minister of Railways. Zillul Hakim.

He said this when South Korean Ambassador Park Yong Sik met the Railway Minister on Sunday (July 7) at 3 pm.

South Korean Ambassador Park Yong Sik said that Korea is interested in working for the development of Bangladesh Railway. Hopefully, mutual cooperation in various fields including the railway sector will increase later.

Railway Minister said, we have a railway factory in Syedpur. Another modern railway factory will be constructed at Rajbari. In railways we are procuring new coaches, engines. New lines are being built, bridges are being constructed and renovated. Signaling system is being modernized. South Korea can jointly invest in these fields with Bangladesh.

The minister also said that we are planning to bring the entire Bangladesh under rail communication. We have undertaken various projects to implement the master plan for the development of the railway sector.

The railway minister urged Korea to invest in the ongoing development projects in the railway sector of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the Ministry of Railways. Humayun Kabir, Director General of Bangladesh Railway Sardar Shahadat Ali and senior officials were present.
