Marijuana plants in the premises of the Animal Husbandry Department

A ganja plant was recovered from Jessore’s Abhaynagar Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital premises. On Thursday (July 4) afternoon, Abhaynagar police recovered the cannabis plant.

A service recipient who did not wish to be named said that he went to the upazila animal husbandry office on Thursday morning for urgent work. While leaving the office after official work, he saw a ganja plant on the eastern side of the boundary wall near the main gate of the Animal Husbandry Department. When the news spread, Abhaynagar police came and recovered the tree in the afternoon.

When speaking to Abhaynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Akiqul Islam, he said that the police were sent there on Thursday afternoon on the basis of the news that there were live cannabis plants inside the Livestock Department. A cannabis plant of about 4 feet height was recovered from there. The matter is being investigated. The process of investigation and necessary action is going on.

Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Abuja Siddiqui said that for a long time a local youth group has been illegally entering the office premises and consuming ganja. The administration actually ran away over the wall.

But he avoided the question of how a cannabis plant grew so large inside.
