Muhith’s contribution to building a prosperous Bangladesh is unforgettable: Environment Minister

Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury mentioned that former Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith’s contribution in building a prosperous Bangladesh is unforgettable.

He said, he (Muhit) involved people in all fields of politics, economy, environment, sustainable development. He had innovation in every budget. Child Budget, PPP, Universal Pension Scheme etc. are products of his thinking. He was the first president of Bangladesh Environment Movement. He had already realized how important the environment was.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the memorial meeting and unveiling of memorial book-2 on the occasion of the second death anniversary of Abul Mal Abdul Muhith, the freedom fighter of Diploma Engineering Institute, on Friday (June 7) evening.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that AMA Muhith’s contribution is immense in the field of independence. He presented the discrimination of Pakistan in the form of a report. His political acumen was unparalleled. Electoral reforms including transparent ballot boxes were introduced in 2001 by writing Rigged Elections. It was he who realized the need to have think tanks, the research arm of political parties.

The Environment Minister also said that Muhith has tried to involve the youth in sports including football and cricket. He loved the country. He could see the future, he could tell the truth. The life of this multi-talented man should be researched.

Prominent economist AMA Muhit Trust President Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, State Minister of Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment spoke as a special guest under the chairmanship of Kazi Khalikuzzaman Ahmed.
