Not satisfied with the proposed budget 14 parties!

Awami League-led 14-party alliance partners are ‘not satisfied’ with the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. Their top leaders feel that this budget will prolong the country’s ongoing economic crisis instead of solving it. There will be no relief among the people.

This 54th budget of the country was proposed by the new Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali. Although not ambitious or loud, the strategy of controlling the situation has been taken in the budget. Curbage, opportunities to turn black money into white money and coverage of social security have been increased

Dissatisfaction in the 14 parties has been for several months due to various reasons including seat distribution, power sharing. The alliance leaders say that the banks will also suffer because of the dependence on bank loans in the budget. Common people will not be freed from the misery caused by the increase in commodity prices.

In response to the budget, the president of the coalition partner Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASD) Hasanul Haque told Inu Jago News that the ongoing crisis in the economy; I expected a budget to solve various problems including commodity price inflation, dollar crisis, various banking crisis, stagnation in tax collection. But this budget does not seem to solve the crisis. It appears to be a budget to co-exist with the ongoing crisis.

He said whether the poor people suffering from inflation will get relief or not, there is no specific roadmap in the budget. The main need was to come up with concrete proposals to save the poor, workers, lower-middle class by controlling inflation. There is no mention of institutional action to resolve the anarchy in the banking sector. The proposed budget will do nothing to counter the ongoing economic shock. Rather, it will keep the ongoing crisis alive.

Chairman of Tariqat Federation Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, another partner of the alliance, thinks that the proposed budget will not play an effective role in solving the ongoing crisis.

He told Jago News, firstly it is a deficit budget. Bank loans depend on it. Because of which the banks will face. We had hoped that the budget would relieve the misery of the common man due to the rising cost of goods. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. The reduction sector in the budget is very less. But there is more room for growth. That is, the price of goods will not decrease as a result of this budget. Moreover, the tax net has been increased. The pressure fell entirely on the people.

From what I have seen, there is not much difference with the continuity of the past. According to the International Monetary Fund’s prescription, this budget has been given to meet their conditions

Rashed Khan Menon, president of the Non Workers Party, senior leader of the alliance, is optimistic about the proposed budget. He told Jago News, “We have not seen any bold step through which money laundering, anarchy in the banking sector will be stopped.” The discussion on the question of corruption did not come into it. The onus is on the people. Let the people decide for themselves, the budget remains in such a place.

He said, the current reality, that reality solves the crisis; I do not know what is in the detailed account of the crises that exist in public life. Because we saw the brief. There is nothing there. From what I have seen, there is not much difference with the continuity of the past. According to the prescription of the International Monetary Fund, this budget has been given to meet their conditions.

However, Gana Azadi League president SK Shikder, another member of the 14 party, struck a different note. In response to the budget, he told Jago News that the economic context of our country is different from that of other countries. Our country’s money is looted. Goes to another country. Makes Begumpara. The budget is timely in the current context. It seems to be able to do something good. One percent customs duty has been reduced on twenty products. It is realistic and consistent with the economy.
