Pesticides are being applied by drones to prevent dengue: Tajul Islam


Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam said that due to the outbreak of dengue, mosquito breeding centers are being identified and pesticides are being applied by drones.

The minister said this during the question and answer session in the National Parliament on Tuesday (June 11). Speaker Dr. Member of Parliament Md. Khosru Chowdhury.

Tajul Islam said that activities are ongoing across the country including the capital to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. Dhaka-18 Constituency is under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). As before, DNCC has adopted a year-long plan for dengue prevention in 2024 as well. Daily larvicide and adulticide are done in all wards of City Corporation. Besides, on the basis of the information received from the health department, immediate inspection of the patient’s house and larvicide and adulticide are done around it. Drones identify mosquito breeding grounds and apply pesticides.

He said, dengue hotspots are specially monitored. Biometric attendance system has been introduced to ensure regular attendance of Moshaknidhan workers. A special anti-mosquito campaign was conducted involving teachers, students, scouts, public representatives and imams.

The minister also said that 32 crore rupees and 20 crore rupees have been allotted to municipalities for dengue control and cleaning activities of ADPs in 12 city corporations of the country. Apart from this, resources of 100 crore rupees have been kept under the development support sector of the Union Parishad to deal with the backwardness of the Union, natural disasters and outbreak of diseases.
