Production should be increased to ensure food security: Social Welfare Minister

Although the country’s population is increasing, the amount of agricultural land is decreasing, said the Minister of Social Welfare. Deepu Moni. He said, we need to increase productivity more to ensure our food security. In this case, the modern and scientific way of using technology should be coordinated with the demand.

He said these things in a discussion meeting organized by district administration and safe food authority at Chandpur District Commissioner’s office on Saturday (July 6) at noon.

The minister said, to maintain the quality of our health care, everyone should be aware of food intake. If someone is sick, the family has to bear the responsibility. So we all should maintain food habits with responsible role from everyone’s place. There are many problems in the production stage in the country. Many production stages are using chemicals, pesticides, which are harmful to human health.

Dipu Moni also said, we can ensure safe food only if we create awareness among common people. We should also create awareness in food intake. The country is much improved under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. No one goes without food now. Access to safe food is a constitutional right of people. To fulfill this right of people our government has enacted ‘Safe Food Act’.
