Recommending proper action against corruption by officials


The Committee on Estimated Accounts of the 12th National Parliament has recommended to the relevant ministry to take appropriate measures against the arbitrariness, negligence and corruption of the responsible officials in the procurement of equipment and other products of the health care department.

On Wednesday (June 12), the third meeting of the committee was held at Sangsad Bhavan under the chairmanship of Captain (Retd.) AB Tajul Islam MP.

In the meeting, members of the committee Chief Whip Noor-i-Alam Chowdhury, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Pran Gopal Dutta, Aparajita Haque, Md. Shahriar Alam and Khadijatul Anwar participated.

Information about the activities of the health care department and review of the implementation progress of the ongoing projects and information about the activities of the health education and family welfare department and a discussion on the review of the implementation progress of the ongoing projects under its purview were held.

Besides, the committee recommended the ministry to confirm the accommodation arrangement of the doctors working in the upazila health complex and to stop the deputation.

In the meeting, the committee recommended for timely promotion of doctors and appointment of retired experienced doctors as guest teachers to alleviate the shortage of teachers in each medical college hospital.

Dissatisfaction with the implementation progress of the ongoing development projects under the health care department and health education and family welfare department was expressed and the committee recommended the ministry to complete the work within the stipulated time without increasing the duration and cost of the ongoing projects.

Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department, Additional Secretary of Health Care Department, Heads of various organizations, Health Education Department and Health Education and Family Welfare Department along with related officials of National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
