Rohingya killed in gunfight in camp

A Rohingya was killed in a gunfight at Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place at A/4 Block of Rohingya Camp-19 at around 6 am on Wednesday (June 12).

Deceased Abdul Monaf (26) is the son of Azim Uliah of A/4 Block of Rohingya Camp-19. He is an armed terrorist of Arsa and an accused in several cases, said the OC.

Citing camp sources, the OC said that on Wednesday morning in the A/4 Block of Rohingya Camp-19, unidentified Arsa terrorists got involved in a shootout. When the patrol team of APBN reached there after receiving the information, the terrorists started firing at the police. Then the police also fired to protect their lives and government property. A little later, when the terrorists retreated and fled, one person was found shot dead from the spot.

The OC also said that he had bullet wounds on his chest and back. APBN members quickly rescued him and took him to Ukhia Upazila Health Complex for treatment, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Three members of APBN were injured in this incident, said the concerned. Police recovered a pistol and one round of bullets from the spot where the bullet-riddled body was recovered.
