Sand lifting in Yamuna, two fined 4 lakh rupees

A mobile court has fined two people four lakh taka for illegally extracting sand from Jamuna river in Chauhali, Sirajganj. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahbub Hasan imposed the fine on Monday (June 10) afternoon.

The convicts are Zakir Hossain and Tabarak Ali of Khaspukuria area of ​​the upazila.

Chauhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahbub Hasan told Jago News that two sand traders have been fined Tk 4 lakh for illegally extracting sand in the Khaspukuria section of the Yamuna river in defiance of government orders. Upazila administration will continue this campaign against illegal dredger owners and sand traders to protect the environment of Yamuna river.

Khaspukuria union land sub-assistant, police and Ansar members were present at the time.
