Shariful lost to Taskin in the Lankan league match


20 runs needed in the last over. 4 wickets in hand. Thisara Perera took the wicket with the first ball. But Angelo Mathews sealed the match. He hit two sixes and a boundary in three consecutive balls and Kandy Falcons needed 3 off the last ball.

Thisara Perera kept a cool yorker. Mathews batted but was run out. The Colombo Strikers were jubilant.

Colombo beat Kandy by 2 runs in a breathless match in the Lankan Premier League. Shariful Islam of Bangladesh played in Kandy, Taskin in Colombo. Shariful lost to Taskin.

Batting first, Colombo made a huge collection of 199 runs for 9 wickets. Glen Phillips 43-ball 70, Angelo Perera 23-ball 38, Rahmanullah Gurbaz 10-ball 20 and Shadab Khan played 23-run innings with 12 balls.

Perera and Gurbaz gave Colombo 53 runs in the opening pair. Shariful broke this pair by returning Gurbaz to Markoot. Then he also dismissed Chamika Karunaratne who made 13 off 5 balls. Taskin scored 7 runs off 3 balls and 1 six.

Shariful took 2 wickets with a total of 43 runs in 4 overs. Which is a fairly good performance in a highscoring match.

In reply, Shariful’s team Kandy stopped at 197 for 8. Mohammad Haris 56 off 32 balls, Andre Fletcher 47 off 36 balls, Kamindu Mendis 36 off 16 balls and Mathews who fought to the end scored 33 runs off 14 balls.

Taskin took a wicket with 30 runs in 4 overs. He broke the opening pair by bowling Dinesh Chandimal.
