Sylhet Customs Commissioner Enamul’s property croc order

The court ordered attachment of the immovable property of Sylhet Customs, Excise and VAT Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque in the case filed by the ACC on the allegation of acquiring assets beyond the known income.

On Thursday (July 4), the investigating officer of the case, ACC Deputy Director Farzana Yasmin, applied to seize his property. In view of the application, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain gave this order. ACC lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed the matter.

In the application, the investigating officer mentioned, a case was filed under section 27(1) of the ACC Act 2004 against the accused for acquiring illegal assets worth Tk 9 crore 76 lakh 97 thousand through bribery and corruption. During the investigation, it is known from reliable sources that the accused is trying to hand over the immovable property owned and related to his interest, which if he can do, filing the charge sheet in the court in continuation of this case, confiscating the property acquired from the proceeds of crime in favor of the government as a part of the sentence after the trial by the court will fail. Therefore, after completing the investigation of the case and submitting the charge sheet to the court, it is absolutely necessary to freeze the immovable property in order to facilitate the confiscation of the property in favor of the government and for the sake of fair investigation and justice.
