The government is buying Tk 537 crore worth of pulses and oil for TCB


The government has decided to buy soybean oil and lentils worth Tk 536 crore 98 lakh for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh-TCB. Of this, soybean oil worth Tk 331.98 crore and lentils worth Tk 205 crore will be purchased.

The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the purchase of these pulses and oil.

This approval was given in the cabinet committee meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (June 11) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan told reporters that the proposal to buy 20,000 metric tons of lentils for sale at subsidized price to one crore family card holders of TCB has been approved.

The price of lentils per kg has been fixed at 102 taka 50 paisa. The total cost of buying 20 thousand metric tons of lentils will be Tk 205 crore. These lentils will be purchased from Nabil Naba Food Products Limited.

It is learned that two bids were submitted, which were responsive, when tenders were invited locally to buy 20,000 metric tons of lentils at a subsidized price to family card holders of TCB. After all the bidding process, Ministry of Commerce decided to buy these lentils from Nabil Naba Food Products, the responsive lowest bidder recommended by TEC.

Meanwhile, in view of another proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, the Government Cabinet Committee approved the purchase of 22 million liters of soybean oil locally through open tender system. At 150 taka 90 paisa per liter, the total cost of buying this soybean oil will be taka 331 crore 98 lakh.

This soybean oil will be sold at a subsidized price to one crore families with TCB family cards. Two tenders were submitted when tenders were invited through local open tender system to buy this soybean oil. Both the tenders are financially and technically responsive. After all the bidding process, Ministry of Commerce decided to buy this soybean oil from Super Oil Refinery Limited, the responsive lowest bidder recommended by TEC. Now the cabinet committee has approved the same.
