The Netherlands in the semi after making Turkey cry in a six-minute storm

With 20 minutes left in the game, Türkiye still leads by 1-0. From that place, the Netherlands turned around in a big way. The Dutch sent off the Turks by scoring two goals in six minutes.

The Netherlands beat Turkey 2-1 in a thrilling Euro Cup quarter-final to enter the semi-finals.

From the start in Berlin, the match was dominated by attack and counter-attack. After two minutes, the Netherlands’ Mumpis Depay’s shot went wide. Despite having 54 percent possession in the first 20 minutes, all Dutch attacks were blocked in the Turkish D-box.

In the 29th minute, Bardacci’s volley shot went wide of the crossbar. Finally, the first goal of the match came from Turkey in the 35th minute. Samit Akaydin put Turkey 1-0 ahead with a superb header from Arda Guler’s great cross.

In the 42nd minute, Steven Bergwin of the Dutch took a shot from outside the D-box but it missed the target. If there were no more goals in the first half, Türkiye went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Turkey had a chance to make the gap 2-0 early in the second half. Arda Guler’s curling shot from a free kick in the 57th minute hit the post.

After that, the Netherlands made a great comeback. One attack after another began to attack the Turkish box. Finally, the Dutch went ahead with two goals in six minutes.

In the 70th minute, Stephan de Vries equalized with a great header after receiving the ball from Depay’s corner (1-1). They made it 2-1 with a suicide goal in the 76th minute. Gakpo fell to Dumfries’ pass but put his boot on and the ball went into the net.

However, the replay shows that the goal did not touch Gakpo, but Turkey’s Mulder and entered the net. So it is considered as an own goal. That goal ultimately decided the fate of the match.
