The postman’s body was found in the cemetery, with a bloody knife next to it

The body of an employee of digital service platform ‘Pathao’ has been recovered from the hill graveyard of Manikpir in Sylhet city.

The body was recovered from the side of the tiller railing inside the cemetery around 1.30pm on Thursday (June 6).

The name of the deceased youth is Abul Hasan Shimul (22). He is the son of Abdul Hannan of Zakiganj upazila of Sylhet.

Police said, three injury marks were found on the body. A blood-stained knife was recovered from the side of the body. Initially, it is believed to be a planned murder.

According to police sources, the police received information about the dead body of a young man lying next to the steps leading to the hill of Manikpir cemetery. The body was recovered in the afternoon. Meanwhile, a blood-stained knife and a packet of Pathao courier were recovered from the side of the body. It is believed that he was killed with that knife.

The family members of the deceased said that since February this year, Shimul Pathao was working as a courier. He went to work on Thursday morning as usual. After receiving a call from the police at noon, they came to the spot and found the dead body.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Azbahar Ali Sheikh said that the body of the young man who was stabbed by the miscreants was recovered from inside Manikpir cemetery. There are injury marks on the body of the deceased. He is believed to have been killed.

He also said that efforts are being made to identify the killers based on the package of Pathao Courier Service.
