There have been more irregularities in parliament elections than upazilas: Kader Mirza

Noakhali’s Companiganj Upazila Awami League President and Basurhat Municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza said that there were more irregularities in the previous 12th National Assembly elections than this year’s upazila elections. In that election, the leaders made the women stand in line all day with money. So that the officials go and see the voters in the line.

He said this at the reception of the newly elected chairman and two vice-chairmen of the Upazila Parishad at Basurhat Municipal Auditorium on Friday (June 7) afternoon. Kader Mirza’s speech was broadcast live on Facebook by party leaders and workers.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has been elected Member of Parliament for the fourth consecutive time from Noakhali-5 Constituency consisting of Companyganj and Kabirhat Upazilas in the 12th National Parliament Elections on January 7. Mayor Abdul Quader is the younger brother of Mirza Obaidul Quader.

Quader Mirza said, ‘There have been more irregularities than the recently concluded upazila parishad elections in the past 12th national parliament elections. There is no voting irregularity, our leaders and workers have been irregular in the last parliament election. 15-20 women have been brought and made to stand in line after paying 500 rupees. They are stationed there by an official or when we go. Voted in this system. Did I lie?…No. In this year’s election (Upzilla Parishad) too, Orai (the rival candidate of Kader Mirza) has committed irregularities. A boy who was with us in Ward No. 7 of Charkakandra alone scored 100 votes in the doat-pen symbol.’

He also said, ‘We could not remove one thing from our society. That is corruption. Corruption has crept into the pores of our society. We have to protect our society from this, there is no alternative. The teachers who were respected the most by the people of the country, those educational institutions are today the most corrupt.

Quader Mirza said, ‘No one has dignity by going to the police station. Pay, you gentlemen. Don’t pay you will get kicked out. They cannot complete an arbitration. The soles of people’s sandals have eroded from walking around the police station. no trial People don’t get justice today. Justice has to be done, there is no alternative. If he goes against his family while speaking justice, he should speak.’

Mayor of Basurhat Municipality Abdul Quader Mirza said to the newly elected chairman and vice chairmen, “Even if the wrongdoer is your brother, never indulge. I made an election against my brother, God knows best. I did it willingly. I did it with Obaidul Quader out of spite. For arguing with me. When we work for what we do, we do it with faith.’

In addition to Abdul Quader Mirza, newly elected upazila parishad chairman Golam Sharif Chowdhury Pipul, two vice-chairmen Muhammad Jasim Uddin, Parveen Akhtar and other upazila Awami League leaders spoke at the reception.

It should be noted that on May 29, the third phase of upazila parishad elections was held in Companyganj. In this, Quader Mirza’s younger brother Shahadat Hossain and Upazila Awami League general secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal were elected as chairman. However, Quader Mirza went against them and supported Dhaka businessman Golam Sharif Chowdhury.
