Today is National Tea Day

National Tea Day is today Tuesday (June 3). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be present as the chief guest at the function organized at the capital’s Osmani Smriti Auditorium on the occasion of the day.

The National Tea Day is being celebrated for the fourth time by the initiative of Bangladesh Tea Board under the guidance of the Ministry of Commerce under the theme ‘Smart Bangladesh’s determination, export-oriented tea industry’.

State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said that the ‘National Tea Award’ will be given for the second time.

In a briefing organized on the occasion of National Tea Day at the Ministry’s conference room on Monday, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam said, ‘Tea industry is progressing on the path of sustainable development following the initiative of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and under the guidance of the Prime Minister. In 2023, 1.4 million kg of tea was exported to 13 countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, which is about 33 percent more than last year.

According to the demand of the international market, the Ministry of Commerce is working on the production of tea.

‘National Tea Awards 2024’ will be given to various tea companies/individuals in 8 categories in recognition of special contribution to the tea industry.
