Two hotels fined for littering in sea and unhealthy food


A traveling court fined two hotels Tk 3 lakh for dumping garbage in the sea and serving unhealthy food to tourists at Kuakata in Patuakhali.

Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaushik Ahmed collected a fine of Tk 150,000 from Boishakhi Restaurant and Biryani House and Tk 150,000 from Gazi Restaurant and Biryani House in a raid at 5 pm on Friday (July 5). Members of the police were present at the time.

It was learned that waste and abandoned garbage from the hotels were dumped into the sea from the zero point area of ​​Kuakata Beach at various times and the food served by both the hotels was unsanitary. Many tourists and locals complained about this.

Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaushik Ahmed said that tourists are coming to Kuakata and they are cheating a lot. So this is our campaign to serve safe food to tourists. They have been fined for littering in the sea and not having a healthy environment. They have been given the next 7 days, within which they will be completely shut down if the quality of food is not fixed.
