Urge to involve Qawmi Madrasas in mainstream education

The Standing Committee of the Ministry of Education has urged the country’s Qawmi Madrasahs to be associated with mainstream education.

The fourth meeting of the committee was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan on Thursday (July 4) under the chairmanship of MP Nurul Islam Nahid.

In the meeting, the committee members and Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury MP, State Minister Shamsun Nahar MP, Motahar Hossain MP, A. F. M Bahauddin Nashim MP, Abdul Majid MP, Ahmed Hossain MP, Biplab Hasan MP, Abdul Malek Sarkar MP and Azizul Islam MP participated.

The meeting confirmed the progress of implementation of the decisions of the first, second and third meetings and approved the minutes of the previous meeting. The meeting also recommended maintaining the highest quality standards in textbook printing.

The committee recommends strengthening the monitoring of educational programs in secondary level schools.

In the meeting, the committee was apprised of the overall activities of the University Grants Commission and recommended to take effective steps to bring accountability and transparency to the private universities.

The meeting also scrutinized the ‘International Mother Language Institute (Amendment) Bill, 2024’ and recommended for speedy finalization of the Bill.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department, Secretary of Technical Education and Madrasa Education Department along with senior officials of the Ministry and National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
