We want to make Dhaka as safe as developed cities in the world

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has commented that people are now getting the benefits of Digital Bangladesh, the implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visionary thinking.

Regarding the safety of people, he said, we are covering the entire Dhaka with a blanket of security. The way we want to control the law and order of Dhaka city, we want to make it safe, we can definitely do it. As developed cities of the world have been made into safe cities, we will also make Dhaka first and then the main cities of the country as safe cities.

He said these things at the event organized by ‘Law and Order Coordination Council (LOCC)’ at Sheraton Hotel in the capital on Saturday (July 6) night. This program was organized on the occasion of the inauguration of CC camera program and smart parking system.

On this day, the home minister inaugurated the fourth phase of the CCTV surveillance project and the street smart parking system to cover Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani and Niketan societies in the capital. Under the project, another 2,000 CC cameras will be installed in Gulshan area. Also the old CC cameras will be replaced in phases. At the same time, Street Smart Parking is being zoned to prevent car parking everywhere in Gulshan area.

DMP officials are controlling the CCTV cameras 24 hours a day from the control room set up at Gulshan police station.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the Home Minister said that the project you have undertaken for security in Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani and Niketan societies for CC cameras and street smart parking is definitely worthy of appreciation. We have undertaken many projects to make Dhaka City safe. The Prime Minister told me that you divide Dhaka City into four parts and start operations from one place. As a part of that, this project has been launched with your cooperation in Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani and Niketan and its benefits are being reaped by the people living here. People are getting the benefits of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visionary thinking of transforming Bangladesh into digital Bangladesh. Any criminal using technology for any crime in Dhaka city is easily caught and legal action is taken.

Thanking everyone involved in the LOCC, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said, “You are enjoying the benefits of the investment you have made to secure your area.” At this time, he urged everyone to come forward to make the entire Dhaka safe like Gulshan.

On the occasion, DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that this project of Law and Order Coordination Council was started in 2013 through a public-private partnership initiative by DMP and Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani and Niketan societies. So far the project is in progress and will accelerate in the future.

Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation presided over the event. Atiqul Islam Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman was present as guest of honour. Special guest was Information and Broadcasting Minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, Dhaka-11 Constituency Member of Parliament Md. Wakil Uddin Chowdhury and others.
