It is known that Shabana Mahmood was born in Birmingham, England. However, he hails from Pakistan-controlled Azad-Kashmir. His parents were residents of Mirpur area of ​​Azad Kashmir. However, Shabana Mahmood spent her childhood in Taif, Saudi Arabia. He can speak Urdu and Mirpuri along with English.

Before becoming a full minister, Shabana served as shadow minister of the Home Office and Finance of the UK. He has served as the Labor Party’s election campaign chief during by-elections for the past two years. Shabana has been a member of the National Executive Committee of the Labor Party since 2016. He also played an important role in preparing the party’s manifesto for the July 4 elections.

The Oxford graduate woman politician was first elected on a Labor ticket in 2010 and has been winning ever since. In this election, he won his seat by getting 15 thousand 558 votes.

She became the first non-British Muslim woman to the House of Commons in 2010. In the same year, two other Muslim non-British women, Rushnara Ali of Bangladeshi origin and Yasmin Qureshi of Pakistani origin, became MPs.
