World leaders congratulate Pezeshkian


World leaders have congratulated the newly elected president of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent him a congratulatory message shortly after news of his win broke. Reformist Masoud Pezeshkian, who was elected president, said on Saturday that he would extend a hand of friendship to everyone. Al Jazeera news.

In a speech on state television, Pezheshkian said, “We will extend the hand of friendship to everyone.” We are all people of this country. It is necessary to establish friendly relations with all for the progress of our country.

Pezeshkian admits that the road ahead is tough. But he extended his hand of cooperation to the Iranians. He said, I extend my hand of support to you and I promise that I will not leave you alone in this difficult path. Don’t leave me alone.

Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Iran’s new president and expressed hope for deepening ties between the two countries. This information was confirmed by the Kremlin on Saturday. In a message to Pezeshkian, Putin said, “I hope that as the president of Iran, you will work to further develop constructive bilateral relations between the two countries.”

Before this Iranian presidential election, Putin met with the interim president of Iran at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan. At that time, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia and Iran had discussed a bilateral cooperation agreement.

Saudi Arabia
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated Pezeshkian, Saudi Arabia’s state news agency SPA reported. In a statement, the Crown Prince said, “I pledge my interest in developing and deepening relations between the governments and peoples of the two countries.” Also, we want to work in our mutual interest.

Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations in 2023 after being closed for almost 7 years. After days of talks mediated by China, both countries agreed to reopen the embassies.

According to the US media CNN, the announcement of restoration of relations was surprising but expected. Because the two countries had been trying to re-establish diplomatic relations for almost two years. Recently, the two countries have also increased regular contacts to strengthen ties.

Azerbaijan
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed the newly elected president of Iran. He said that Azerbaijan views relations with Iran very seriously. Inviting Pezheshkian, Aliyev said, “I am confident that through our joint efforts, we will be able to strengthen traditional friendly relations and ensure the expansion of mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in line with the interests of our people and country.”

Venezuela
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil congratulated Iran for showing its commitment to democracy through two rounds of voting. In a statement, he said, Venezuela expresses its firm conviction that the decision of the Iranian people will contribute to the prosperity of this nation. They will also contribute as an emerging power in the new multifaceted world.

He also said that Pezeshkian will have the full support of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his government. Close allies Iran and Venezuela signed a 20-year strategic cooperation plan during Maduro’s visit to Tehran in 2022.

China
Meanwhile, in a message welcoming Pezeshkian, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, “I attach great importance to the development of Sino-Iranian relations, and I am eager to work with the Iranian president to further advance the China-Iranian comprehensive strategic partnership.”

The state-run Xinhua News Agency quoted Xi Jinping as saying that the history of friendly relations between the two countries is long and healthy and stable bilateral relations have been maintained for more than half a century.

The Chinese president said that in the face of complex regional and international situations, China and Iran have always supported each other, worked together and consolidated strategic mutual trust.

India
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the new Iranian president. We look forward to working closely with Pezeshkian to further strengthen our warm and long-standing bilateral relationship for the development of our people and the region, he said.

Iraq
Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid welcomed Iran and the country’s new president. He wished Pezeshkian success in the charge of the government of Iran and fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the country.

In a post on social media, he said, “We confirm our interest in strengthening relations between Iraq and Iran.” We will work together to protect the interests of the two neighboring countries and people.

Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he looked forward to working closely with Pezeshkian and promoting peace and stability in the region. In a post on social media, he said, as neighboring countries, Pakistan and Iran have close and historical relations. We must ensure a bright future for the people of both countries through mutual cooperation.

Kuwait
Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah wished Iranian President Pezeshkian a long and healthy life and further prosperity and development of the Islamic Republic.

Syria
Bashar al-Assad, the country’s president, said that it is our interest to confirm that Iran is one of the most important countries with which Syria has the highest level of relations.

He said the relationship was built on decades of mutual respect, common understanding and firm principles that Syria and Iran have always adhered to. We will work together to strengthen the strategic relationship between Syria and Iran and open new promising horizons for bilateral cooperation.

Qatar
The country’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated Pezeshkian and wished him success and further development and prosperity of joint relations.

Belarus
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko called Pezeshkian’s victory an unconditional victory for the Iranian people. He said the results of the vote confirm your political authority and testify to public support for the country’s leadership in protecting Iran’s national interests. I am sure that in the near future we will be able to implement all the agreements including raising the level of relations between the two countries to a strategic partnership.

United Arab Emirates
The country’s president, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said he wishes Pezeshkian success in his role and looks forward to working together to further strengthen relations between the UAE and Iran for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.

The UAE has maintained trade relations with Tehran for decades. Last April, the two countries held a joint economic cooperation commission meeting for the first time in 10 years.

Iran’s presidential election was scheduled to take place in 2025. Iran’s presidential election was held on June 28 after President Ibrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter accident on May 19. Four candidates contested in it. However, as no single person got more than 50 percent of the votes, the election went to the second phase.

The total number of votes cast in the second phase of the election is about 3 crore. Among them, Masud Pezheshkian received more than 16 million votes. That is, he got a total of 54 percent votes. On the other hand, his fierce rival Saeed Jalili got more than 1.3 million votes, i.e. about 44 percent of the votes.
