“At the end of the research, the reason for the increase in temperature at the urban level can be identified”


A study is being conducted to find out the reason for the rise in temperature in the country, which will be completed next December. After the completion of the study, the reason for the increase in temperature at the urban level in Bangladesh will be identified, said Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury.

He gave this information in a written statement in response to the notice given by independent member of parliament Amatul Kibria Kaya Chowdhury under Rule 71 in the National Parliament on Sunday (June 9).

The Environment, Forest and Climate Minister said that a study is being done through the Climate Trust Fund to find out the reason for the rise in temperature in the country, which will be completed in December. After the completion of the research, the reason for the rise in temperature at urban level in Bangladesh can be identified. In the current scenario, the temperature rise situation and impact in Dhaka and Mymensingh cities can be assessed and the mitigation strategies can be identified to assess the rainfall variability and deal with it.

In response to the notice given by another Independent Member of Parliament, Abul Kalam Azad, the minister said that the Department of Environment conducted 2,338 operations against brick kilns from January 2019 to April this year. As if 4 thousand 436 cases have been filed and 98 people have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment and 111 crores 50 lakhs 33 thousand 900 rupees have been collected.
