Collision with a motorcycle while crossing the road, the pedestrian along with the driver were killed


A pedestrian along with the driver was killed in a collision with a motorcycle in Barisal’s Bakerganj. The accident took place in front of Ruhitarpar Mishu filling station on Barisal-Patuakhali highway of Bakerganj upazila on Monday (June 10) evening.

The deceased are motorcycle driver Sagar (18) of Kalaskathi Union of Bakerganj Upazila and pedestrian Nuruzzaman (60), a resident of ward number 23 of Sylhet Sadar City Corporation area.

Afzal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakerganj Police Station confirmed the matter. He said that when a motorcycle coming from Patuakhali reached in front of Mishu filling station, a worshiper of Ruhitarpar Jame Masjid on the west side of the highway ran and crossed the road and collided with the motorcycle. Pedestrian Nuruzzaman was killed on the spot.

In this incident, motorcyclist Sagar lost control and fell on the barbed wire fence on the side of the road and his throat was cut by the barbed wire and he was also killed on the spot. At that time, a rider on the back of the motorcycle was seriously injured and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.

The worshipers of Ruhitarpar Jama Masjid said that the deceased Noorzaman had come to Barisal from Sylhet along with his companions for Tabligh Jamaat. He met with an accident while going out from the mosque in the afternoon.

In this regard, Afzal Hossain, OC of Bakerganj Police Station, said that after sending the police to the spot, the two bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. After taking legal action, the bodies of the deceased will be handed over.
