Djokovic suddenly withdrew from the French Open

The quarter-finals of the French Open came with a bang. Chances were to win another Grand Slam. But that was no longer possible. Novak Djokovic, the number one tennis player in the world, was knocked out before entering the field in the quarter finals.

He gave the hint after reaching the quarter finals. In the end, that came true. Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament due to injury. This information was informed by the organizers on Tuesday.

He injured his right knee while playing against Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round on Monday night. Even after the trainer’s care, he didn’t feel normal. He was digging in the court. Djokovic has to take multiple painkillers. However, Serundolo lost in five sets in a 4 and a half hour fight. He played till 3 am in the previous match. As a result, the body no longer responded.

Djokovic won a record 370th Grand Slam match. Roger beat Federer. However, after reaching the quarter finals, he said, ‘I don’t know what will happen tomorrow or the day after that. I don’t know if I can play on the court or not.’

Djokovic also said, he is optimistic about the game. But injuries have plagued him for the past two weeks. That injury was aggravated by a twist in the match against Serundolo.

Djokovic suffered the injury while leading 2-1 in the second set. At that time the trainer came and treated him on the court. Djokovic was then heard saying to the chair umpire, ‘I don’t know what to do. I don’t know whether to continue playing or not.’ But gradually his pain started decreasing. Continued to play in the end and also took the record win.

After the match he further said, ‘The effects of the medicine will not last long. So let’s see what happens next. There seems to be a lot of tests and scans to be done.’
