Easybike theft after driver killed, 4 sentenced to death


The court has sentenced 4 people to death in the case of suffocating the driver Laiju Mia after stealing an easy bike in Jamalpur’s Sarishabari. Jamalpur Additional District and Session Judge-2 Judge Muha on Sunday (June 9) afternoon. Anwar Chadat announced the verdict.

The defendants sentenced to death are, Md. Sohag, Md. Moni Taheri aka Monir Hossain, Md. Zakir Hossain and Md. Rubel Mia. Among the convicts, Sohag escaped and Md. Zakir Hossain is on bail. The remaining two accused were present in the court.

According to the source of the case, on the night of September 30, 2016, Laiju Mia was killed and taken away by stealing an autorickshaw from the Sarishabari-Tarakandi paved road, 300 yards south of Liku Mia’s chicken farm in the Mulbari area of ​​the upazila. Later, Rubel Mia and Md. were suspected to be involved in this incident. Moni Taheri alias Monir Hossain was arrested. Later they pleaded guilty under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. At the same time the associate mentioned the names of Sohag and Zakir. After 7 years and 8 months in this incident, the court found 4 people guilty and sentenced them to death.

State lawyer Shafiqul Islam Akkas said that the court announced this verdict after the testimony of 17 witnesses in the case. The verdict was given in the presence of 2 convicts. Among them, the remaining 2 are absconding after being released on bail.
