Former MP Kamal Haider passed away


Former Member of Parliament (MP) and journalist Kamal Haider of Narsingdi-3 (Shibpur) Constituency passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun).

He died at his residence in Dhaka on Tuesday (June 4) night. On Wednesday (June 5) at 3:00 pm, he was buried in the family graveyard after the funeral at his village Shibpur Bailab Government Primary School ground. Earlier he was given a guard of honour.

Former MP Kamal Haider had lost his memory due to various diseases related to old age. He was born in a noble Muslim family in Bailab village of Chakradha union of Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi. Elected MP from Shivpur in 1986.

He has one son and one daughter. Son Tanveer Haider is Senior Director of Pavel City Group. The daughter-in-law is a doctor and a major in the army. Daughter Supti Haider works in the British Council.

Kamal Haider got involved in student union politics while studying at Shivpur Pilot High School. Later, Nap got involved with Mozzafar’s politics. He was one of the members of the Political Liaison Committee of the three alliances.

Kamal Haider was a brave freedom fighter trained in India by a guerilla force composed of National Awami Party (NAP), Communist Party and Student Union. Once he chose the profession of journalism. Graduated from Dhaka University with Bachelor and Master Degree in Journalism.
