It is proposed to bring the new recruits in government institutions under the universal pension scheme. Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali proposed this while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Thursday (June 6).
In the proposed budget speech, the finance minister said that the newly recruited employees in the government institutions that get pension benefits will be brought under the universal pension.
He said that the new recruits of autonomous and state-owned organizations have already been covered under this system. From July 1 of the new year (from 2025), we will also introduce this system for new recruits of other government institutions.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the universal pension system with four schemes on August 17 last year. The four schemes include – Immigration, Progress, Protection and Equality. Till last May 12, 1 lakh 58 thousand 100 people have been included in four schemes of universal pension.
