During the Raiganj upazila elections of Sirajganj, there were allegations of showing live horses in polling booths to solicit votes.

This live horse was displayed at Shimla Government Primary School polling station in Dhangara Union of Upazila at around 9 am on Wednesday (June 5).

Locals said that Golam Hossain Shubhon’s chairman candidate Golam Hossain Shubhon’s people are bringing live horses to the polling station and displaying them. At the same time, the supporters of Shubhan are asking the voters who come to the center to vote for Ghora Marka.

Shahjahan Ali, the presiding officer of Shimla Government Primary School polling station admitted the truth of the incident and told Jago News, “I was in the room, that’s why I didn’t understand.” However, after seeing the live horse in the polling station field, I removed it.

Upazila Election Officer Sudip Kumar Roy told Jago News, “I am not aware of the matter.” But I am taking action on this matter now.

Voting starts from 8 am on Wednesday (June 5) and will continue till 4 pm. For the first time, voting is going on in 109 centers using Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). However, voter turnout in the centers is low.
