Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed inaugurated Bangladesh Army’s Tree Planting Campaign-2024 on Sunday (June 9).
On this occasion, the army chief announced the inauguration of the tree plantation program simultaneously in all the cantonments and DOHS areas of the country including Dhaka and Jalsindi housing project area by planting a tree sapling in Shahid Moinul Road area of Dhaka Cantonment through video teleconference (VTC).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called on everyone to plant at least three trees around their homesteads and office spaces to protect the environment at the opening ceremony of National Tree Planting Campaign and Tree Fair-2024 on June 5 under the slogan ‘Decorate the country with trees, enrich Bangladesh’.
For that purpose, in Bangladesh Army’s Tree Planting Campaign-2024, all cantonments, training areas, firing range areas, DOHS areas and Jalsindi housing project areas will be planted with beautifying trees including fruit, forest and medicinal trees, which will continue till September 5.
The main purpose of this tree planting program is to encourage everyone to plant trees with the aim of increasing the forest resources of the country and protecting the ecological balance.
Senior army officers, JCOs and other ranks of army personnel and media persons were present on the occasion.
