The people of Sunamganj are relieved to reduce the water

Due to less rainfall in Sunamganj and Cherrapunji in India for the last two days, the water in the river of Bhatir district has started decreasing. At the same time, people feel relieved due to the bright sun.

After investigation, it is known that after heavy rains and upstream floods occurred in some upazilas bordering Sylhet, the water of all the rivers in Sunamganj increased rapidly due to continuous rains and hill slopes. Roads in lower areas of Tahirpur, Doarabazar, Chatak and Madhyanagar upazilas were submerged. On the one hand, 200,000 residents of the lower areas have to suffer, and more than 2000,000 people of the district are afraid of floods.

However, from last Monday afternoon to Thursday morning in Sunamganj district, the water of various rivers including Surma started decreasing due to rainfall and upstream flow. Along with this, the local people felt relieved because of the bright sun from the morning.

However, the executive engineer of the Water Development Board, Mamun Howladar, said that due to the low rainfall in Cherrapunji, India, the hill slopes are falling less. Due to this, the water of the river in the district has started to decrease. He also said that there is no danger of flood in the district.

According to the information of the Water Development Board, in the last 24 hours, the water of all the rivers in the district has decreased by 19 cm and is flowing below the danger level by 48 cm.
