A student committed suicide on the balcony of the reading room of Barisal University (Bobby) Hall. University proctor Dr. Md. Abdul Qayyum confirmed this.
The incident took place at Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall on Sunday (June 9) around 11:30 pm. The home of Shifak Noor Ebadi, the victim of suicide, is in Patuakhali district.
She is a fourth year student of Mass Communication and Journalism and was a university representative in a media outlet
Proctor of the university. Md. Abdul Qayyum said that after seeing the student who committed suicide, he was rescued and taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. This matter is very difficult and painful for us. However, the cause of his death could not be ascertained.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barisal Metropolitan Police Bandar Police Station AR Mukul said, “We immediately went to the hospital after hearing the incident.” An investigation will be conducted as to why the girl took such a decision or if there is anything else behind the incident.
