Two killed in bus-easybike collision in Gazipur
Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and an easy bike in Kaliganj of Gazipur. A woman was seriously injured in this incident.
The accident took place on Thursday (June 6) at 12 noon in the upazila’s Kaliganj-Tongi-Ghorashal bypass road at Nalchata area. The names of the dead and injured were not immediately available.
Kaliganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Maruf Ahmed confirmed this information.
He said, on Thursday (June 6) at noon, a bus of Chalanbil Paribahan was going towards Tongi. When the bus reached the Nalchata area of the Kaliganj-Tongi-Ghorashal bypass road, it collided head-on with an easybike coming from the opposite direction. One passenger in the easy bike was killed on the spot and two others were injured. Another person died after rescuing the injured and taking them to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex Shahidul Islam said that two people injured in the road accident were brought to the hospital. One of them was dead. Another seriously injured person has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
The inspector also said that the bodies of 2 people have been recovered in this incident. A woman is under treatment in hospital. The killer bus was intercepted but the driver escaped. Legal action is pending.
