In Koira Upazila of Khulna, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of police was injured and another Sub-Inspector (SI) was injured. Local residents were shocked by such a fight between two police officers.
The fight took place at a food hotel in the upazila on Friday (June 7) afternoon. After the incident, SI Niranjan was attached to the policeline.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Koira Police Station. Mizanur Rahman admitted the truth of the incident and said that SI Niranjan Mandal’s chair hit SI Md. Masum’s head explodes. The incident took place at a food hotel called Ankhi Hotel in Sadar Upazila around 2 pm. After getting information about the incident, the senior officials reached the police station and tried to resolve it.
Locals said that SI Masum Ankhi sat down to eat at the hotel. After some time SI Niranjan went there on a motorcycle. He started abusing SI Masum in profanity as soon as he got off the motorcycle. SI Masum also protested immediately. At one point, SI Niranjan picked up a hotel chair and attempted to beat up Masum. Masum also picked up the chair and moved forward. At one stage of the fight between the two, Masum’s head burst. Later people present at the hotel came and calmed them down.
According to a source, two SIs of the police station got involved in a fight over the seizure of a motorcycle.
SI Niranjan is alleged to have misbehaved with several persons including lawyers and journalists. This issue was also discussed in the Koira District Law and Order Committee meeting last month.
