The city of Sylhet has once again been submerged in the continuous rains and rains of the night

Although the flood situation in Sylhet has improved a little, the city of Sylhet has been submerged again in just 6 hours of continuous rain last night. The low-lying areas of the city have once again been submerged in water since Sunday (June 2) after 1 am.

Heavy rain started in Sylhet around 12 o’clock on Sunday night. In addition to rising water in 8 upazilas of Sylhet, new areas of Sylhet City Corporation have also been flooded due to continuous 6 hours of rain and landslides. Water has overflowed the roads and entered the houses.

It can be seen on the surface, many areas including Mir Maidan Payra, Dargah, Mirabazar, Taltala, Machudighirpar, Jamtala, Topkhana, Kazir Bazar, Jatpur, Terratan, Upshahar, Sobhanighat, Sheikhghat, Laldighir Par of Sylhet city are submerged under water.

Due to waterlogging and sleepless nights in the city, many have demanded to the Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation and the local members of parliament of Sylhet on the social media Facebook to dig the ditches and canals of Sylhet’s Surma river and the side of the river.

Incessant rains in the past few days and floods caused by upstream flows have flooded the lower areas of Sylhet. However, due to non-rainfall, the water in the rivers started to decrease a little from the last two days. As a result, the overall situation was slightly improving. However, due to the rain since Sunday night, new areas were flooded again.
