6 arrested in Sirajganj litchi trader murder case

This information was informed in a press release signed by captain Maruf Hossain at the headquarters of Sirajganj Hatikumrul RAB-12 on Friday (June 7) at noon. The deceased litchi trader Abdul Gaffar is the son of Abdus Sattar of Gurdaspur upazila of Natore district.

The arrested are Saidur Rahman (28) son of Fazlur Rahman of Dia Saturia village of Natore district, Azizul Haque (48) son of Hafiz Uddin of Gazipur village, Mozammel Haque (45) son of deceased Chan Mia of Bara Baria village, Motiur Rahman (45) son of Samchu Mia of Bara Baria village. 43), Ujjal Hossain (34) son of Ali Hossain village of Muktagachha police station of Mymensingh district and Sujan Mia (29) son of Abdul Jalil of Kutibari Chanpur village of Madhupur police station of Tangail district.

Earlier on Thursday around 2.30 am, they were arrested in a raid in Bangabandhu Bridge West Roundabout area in Sirajganj.

The captain said in the press release that Helal Sheikh (36) is a litchi trader. On June 3, he bought litchi from various places in Dashuria area of ​​Pabna and was going towards Sirajganj by truck along with Goffer. Apart from the two of them, there were 6-7 other people in the truck. They introduced themselves as cattle traders. After crossing the Kanchikata toll plaza of Natore district at around 10:30 pm, those 6-7 people tied the hands, feet and eyes of Helal and Goffer and severely injured him.

At around 11:30 pm, they were thrown from the truck in Boalia area of ​​Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj. After hearing the screams, the local people came forward and rescued them and took them to Shaheed M Mansoor Ali Medical College Hospital in Sirajganj where the doctor declared Goffer dead.

In this incident, the next day Helal Sheikh filed a case at Ullapara police station as the plaintiff. After that RAB started shadow investigation to arrest the killers.
