A mentally challenged woman hanged herself in Lalbagh


Wiped out in a house in Shaheed Nagar 2nd Street area in Lalbagh of the capital. A woman named Farzana Akhtar (30) committed suicide by hanging herself.

This incident happened on Tuesday (May 3) at around one in the afternoon. Later, he was taken unconscious to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead at around 6:30 pm.

The deceased’s brother Hanif said that my sister is mentally challenged. In his room, he hangs the veil around his neck with the ceiling fan. Later we informed the police. With the help of the police, he was taken to Dhaka Medical, where the doctor declared him dead.

He also said, my sister got married. The husband left her. Later my sister got married again. Sister’s husband is a rickshaw puller. He got married three months ago. We cannot say anything about the cause of suicide.

Lalbagh Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Ohiduzzaman Chowdhury said, we got the news and recovered the body hanging from the fan. When taken to Dhaka Medical, the doctor declared him dead.

He also said that efforts are being made to find out the reason why the deceased woman committed suicide. The body has been kept in Dhaka Medical Mortuary.
