Allocations to the Supreme Court, Law and Judiciary Department have increased


Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali has increased the allocation for the Supreme Court, Law and Justice Department in the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25. He has proposed to allocate 222 crore rupees for law and judiciary department and 247 crore rupees for Supreme Court.

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali presented this proposal in his budget speech on Thursday (June 6).

An allocation of Tk 2,224 million has been proposed for the administration and development sector for the law and judicial department for the financial year 2024-25. Out of this, a proposal for allocation of Tk 1,866 crore 19 lakh in the management sector and Tk 156 crore 21 lakh in the development sector has been presented. In the revised budget of the fiscal year 2023-24, a total of 1 thousand 717 crore 76 lakh 66 thousand taka has been allocated for the law and judicial department, including management and development. Out of this, one thousand 470 crore 82 lakh 66 thousand taka was in the management sector and 246 crore 54 lakh taka in the development sector. Although the allocation in the management sector has increased in the law and judicial department, the allocation in the development sector has been reduced this time.

The Finance Minister has proposed an allocation of Tk 247 crore 65 lakh 95 thousand for the Supreme Court in the financial year 2024-25. In the revised budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, the allocation for the Supreme Court was Tk 237 crore two lakh 16 thousand.

The Finance Minister on Thursday presented a budget of Tk 797,000 crore for the financial year 2024-25 in the National Assembly. The theme of this year’s budget is ‘Commitment to build a happy, prosperous, developed and smart Bangladesh.’
